Rounding the Corner

We began our addition/renovation on our house the last day of April. We have done much of the work ourselves which has allowed us to spread our money alot further and do a few extra things. Basically, we've had no life this past summer...and it continues into the fall. We are seeing a light at the end of our long, dusty tunnel. We're working on preparing the old wood siding on the original portion of the house. The inside is coming along nicely. It's so close, but we still have quite a bit of work to do to actually live in it.

I think everybody should renovate their house at least once in their lifetime. It's a great way to see what you're made of. We've had a few issues surprise us. Surprisingly, we've been OK. I've heard horror stories about renovations. Our only really bad day was the day Terry was hanging drywall in our new bathroom and every piece was not square. Instead of squares & rectangles our bathroom is made up of all kinds of trapezoid shapes... It always pays to hire a good framing crew.

Along the way, we've had a flood in the new basement addition when TS Fay came through. The most exciting were the snakes that found their way into my new office. Yikes! I have learned how to do all kinds of construction stuff, but most of all, I've learned that if I remember that when we let God be in control of our lives we can come out of this renovation with a smile :)
